Carbonear Coastal Marine and Recreation – ECSC Champions

PLAYOFF SUMMARIES
Coastal Marine and Recreation advanced to the final by beating Glace Bay 6-2 in the divisional winners cross over.

Torbay Trimmer Homes won the 4th place team cross over against Corner Brook 7-2 and then eliminated the Nova Scotia Provincial Winners, Glace Bay, 6-2 late Saturday night. They then beat Halifax Outlaws 4-2 and secured themselves in the championship against Carbonear.

Adam Janes (4.2IP, 4H, 3R, 6K, 2BB) started the game. Carbonear scored 1R in the first as Josh Janes drew a walk, stole second base and scored on a Chris Doran single. Adam Janes led off the 3rd of a single and scored on David Kennedy’s single and Kennedy scored on a single by Chris Doran. He was called for an illegal pitch in the fourth with two out which resulted in the Greg Butt getting on as the first basemen forgot to cover 1st. Kevin Fitzpatrick drew a walk and Craig Power then hit a 3R homerun which tied the game. David Kennedy (4IP, 2H, 0R, 7K, 1BB) was brought in the top of the fourth with 2 out, after Janes gave up 3 run homer. Winning Pitcher Chris Hussey (3.1IP, 1H, 0R, 8K, 0BB) was brought in top of ninth with a runner on first. Both Zack Janes and David Doran were walked to start the 12th inning. Yet Everson got the next two outs before Adam Janes hit a single which scored Zack from second base. The throw had beat Janes to the plate but a bobble by the catcher gave Carbonear the win.
