Softball Recreation Program Coordinator

Conception Bay South Minor Softball is currently hiring for the position of Softball Recreation Program Coordinator commencing immediately. The successful candidate will be responsible to perform a variety of duties to support Conception Bay South Minor Softball. As well as manage community interaction and provide oversight and direction of recreational programming, camps, special events and student staff under the  supervision from the Executive of Conception Bay South Minor Softball.

Duties include:

Plan, organize, and implement Softball programs – teams and skill building skills by overseeing the seasonal softball program. This includes working independently and being responsible for supervising and working activities at designated locations such as parks, school facilities, softball fields and other public facilities, setting up and take down of game supplies, canteens and areas for special events, including weekends, holidays and evenings. Maintaining supplies, equipment and materials in support Softball programs and advises the executive in advance of program equipment and supply needs.   The candidate will also monitor the day-to-day operations of the softball programs, ensuring the programs have required staff, materials and supplies. Maintain game schedules and website for Executive of CBS minor softball and will perform other such duties as may be assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:

Skills in the use of common computer programs and office machines, including Microsoft Office, Publisher, Power Point, and Excel, and athletic scheduling software are required. May also require the use of own personal computer. The successful candidate will also have successful practices, knowledge of principles, rules, and procedures of organized competitive sports, athletic and recreational programs, objectives of public recreation and athletic programs, principles of supervision, organization, administration, maintenance, and operation of softball fields. Have the ability to communicate orally and in writing with staff members and/or supervisor and have working knowledge of appropriate technology in order to best serve the public and manage programs.

Requirements:

The student must be returning to, or planning to attend, a post-secondary institution within the next year and legally work in Canada. Preferably, Students working on Park & Recreation Administration, Sports Management, Kinesiology or Education, Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in the area of parks and recreation administration or related field is preferred. A valid first aid certificate and valid driver’s license with access to a vehicle will be required. This position is for 30 hours a week for 8 weeks.
