Pender Appointed Softball NL Umpire-in-Chief

Keith first started Umpiring for the 30+ Slo-Pitch League in the Goulds in 1988. He officially registered as a Level I fast/slo-pitch umpire with Softball Canada in 1990 and began umpiring adult fastpitch in 1991. He received his Level V umpire designation at the Senior Men’s Canadian Championship, St. Thomas, Ontario in 2005.
Over his 29 years of umpiring, he has officiated more than 2000 games locally. He received Softball NL Umpire of the Year Awards in 1999 and 2002. He has also served in many roles with the Metro Umpires Association from 2002-present, served as Umpire-in-Chief for Softball NL from 2005-2010, and served as Vice-President of Softball NL in 2009.
Nationally, he umpired over 100 games in nine Canadian National Tournaments between 2002 to 2012. Keith has also served as the DUIC supervisor at two National Tournaments – Junior Ladies (2008) & U19 World Boy’s (2009).
In 2011, Keith was named the Umpire of the Year at the Softball Canada Awards Gala in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
