Jordan Pomeroy & Mitchel Whelan SportNL Scholarship Recipients
Today, Sport Newfoundland and Labrador (SportNL) presented the recipients of its Scholarship Awards during their 31st Annual Scholarship Reception, held at the Johnson Geo Centre in St. John’s.
Softball’s Jordan Pomeroy (Placentia) and Mitchel Whelan (Colliers) were among the 15 athletes who received scholarships/bursaries for their athletic achievements during 2021.
Jordan Pomeroy (Placentia) Recently Graduated From The Kinesiology Program At Memorial University Of Newfoundland And Labrador. An Impressive Season Has Led Him To Be Named Among 16 Other Athletes As Part Of The Softball Canada U23 Men’s National Team Roster That Will Compete At The 2022 U23 Men’s Pan American Championship. He Also Won A Silver Medal At The 2021 Rawlings Grand Slam Softball Championship In The U23 Men’s Division.
Mitchel Whelan (Colliers) Is Completing His First Year At Marine Institute Pursing A Diploma Of Technology/Bachelor Of Technology In Ocean Mapping. He Has Made A Number Of Gains Earning Player Of The Month Honours (June) During The Intermediate Season And Winning A Silver Medal At The 2021 Rawlings Grand Slam Softball Championship In The U23 Men’s Division. Mitchel Has Been Named To The 2022 Canada Games Men’s Team That Will Represent Newfoundland And Labrador At The Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games.
