Softball NL President Gary Corbett, Softball NL Executive Director Dave Feener, The Softball NL Board of Directors And The Softball NL Coaching Committee Would Like To Take This Opportunity To Congratulate The Following Individuals On Being Named Head Coaches For The Softball NL U14 & U16 Boy’s & Girl’s 2020 Provincial (All-Star) Teams.

U14 Girl’s – Dave Connors (Conception Harbour)

Softball NL Provincial (All-Star) Teams – 2020 Head Coaches (Bios)
Dave Connors (Head Coach – U14 Girl’s)
Dave is from Conception Harbour and will be the Head Coach for Softball NL’s U14 Girl’s Fastpitch team that will participate in the U14 Girl’s Canadian Fastpitch Championship in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan from August 05-09, 2020. Dave played his minor ball in the CBC Minor Softball Association, captured a Gold Medal at the U19 Nationals (1992), represented Newfoundland Labrador at the Canada Games (1993), played in the St. John’s Junior Men’s Softball League (1994) and has played in the CBC Senior Men’s Fastpitch League for 7-seasons (2013 to present). He currently holds Competition-Introduction Certified Coaching Certification and has coached in the CBC Minor Softball Association 12-years (2008 to present) and has guided teams at numerous Provincial championships, was player/coach at the Senior Men’s Nationals – Masters Division (2016) and represented Newfoundland Labrador at the U14 Girl’s Eastern Canadian Softball Championship on two occasions (Assistant Coach 2016 and Head Coach 2017) and represented Newfoundland Labrador at the U16 Girl’s Eastern Canadian Softball Championship on two occasions (Assistant Coach 2018 and Head Coach 2019).
Chris LeDrew (Head Coach – U14 Boy’s)
Chris is from Conception Bay South and will be the Head Coach for Softball NL’s U14 Boy’s Fastpitch team that will participate in the U14 Boy’s Canadian Fastpitch Championship in Niagara, ON – Dates To Be Determined. Chris played his minor ball in the CBS Minor Association (U12, U14, U16, U19), participated in the NL Summer Games with CBS (1996) and participated in the St. John’s Junior Men’s Softball League with CBS. He currently holds Competition-Introduction Certified Coaching Certification and has been coaching in the CBS Minor Softball Association since 2014 and represented Newfoundland Labrador at the U16 Girl’s Eastern Canadian Softball Championship on two occasions (Head Coach 2017 & 2018) and at the U14 Boy’s Canadian Fastpitch Championship (Head Coach 2019). He is also involved with CBR Minor Hockey at the Novice and Atom Divisions.
Steven Rice (Head Coach – U16 Girl’s)
Steven is from Torbay and will be the Head Coach for Softball NL’s U16 Girl’s Fastpitch team that will participate in the U16 Girl’s Canadian Fastpitch Championship in Charlottetown, PEI – Dates To Be Determined. Steven started playing softball at 12 years of age and has played at a competitive level over his career including Canada Games (1993) and National Championships at the U19, U23 and Senior levels. He currently holds Competition-Introduction Certified Coaching Certification. Since 2013 he has coached girl’s teams at the U10, U12, U14 and U16 Divisions and has represented Newfoundland Labrador at the U14 Girl’s Canadian Fastpitch Championship on two occasions (Head Coach 2018 & 2019). He also has experience coaching baseball and basketball.
David Kennedy (Head Coach – U16 Boy’s)
David is from Carbonear and will be the Head Coach for Softball NL’s U16 Boy’s Fastpitch team that will participate in the U16 Boy’s Canadian Fastpitch Championship in Niagara, Ontario – Dates To Be Determined. David played in the St. John’s Junior & Intermediate Men’s Fastpitch Leagues (1995-2017) and the Carbonear Men’s Fastpitch League (1990-2008). He has represented Newfoundland Labrador at several Eastern Canadian Softball Championships and at the U23 Canadian Men’s Fastpitch Championship. David has coached for over 10 years with the Carbonear Minor Softball Association and has coached at the U12 Atlantic’s (2014 and 2015 Head Coach), the U14 Boy’s Eastern Canadian Softball Championship (Head Coach 2017), the U16 Boy’s Canadian Fastpitch Championship (Head Coach 2018), the U14 Boy’s Canadian Fastpitch Championship (Assistant Coach 2019), the U16 Boy’s Canadian Fastpitch Championship (Head Coach 2019) and U16 Boy’s Eastern Canadian Softball Championship (Head Coach 2019). David currently holds Competition-Introduction Trained Status. He has also coached baseball and is involved with hockey as a coach and executive.
