Softball NL Announces 2021 Provincial (All-Star) Head Coaches
Softball NL President Gary Corbett, Softball NL Executive Director Dave Feener, The Softball NL Board of Directors And The Softball NL Coaching Committee Would Like To Take This Opportunity To Congratulate The Following Individuals On Being Named Head Coaches For The Softball NL U14 Female & Male, U16 Female & Male, U19 Male and U23 Male 2021 Provincial (All-Star) Fastpitch Teams.

U14 Female – Craig Power (Outer Cove)
U14 Male – Paul Monk (Clarenville)
U16 Female – Dave Connors (Conception Harbour)

Softball NL 2021 Provincial (All-Star) Head Coaches – Bios
Craig Power (Head Coach – U14 Female)
Craig is from Outer Cove and will be the Head Coach for the Softball NL U14 Female Provincial (All-Star) Fastpitch team that will participate in the U14 Female Canadian Fastpitch Championship in Brandon, MB from August 4-8, 2021. Craig played his Minor Ball in Outer Cove (U14-U19) and has played at a competitive level over his career including Canada Games (1993), represented NL at four U19 Male Canadian Championships – capturing Gold in 1992, represented NL at four U23 Male Canadian Championships, represented NL at five Senior Canadian Championships and captured a Gold Medal at the Master Men’s Canadian Championship in 2016. He currently holds Competition-Introduction Certified Coaching Certification. His coaching career started in 1990 and he has coached at all levels from U10 to U23, represented Newfoundland Labrador at the U14 Female Canadian Fastpitch Championship (2019) and was a member of the Coaching Staff for the U14 Female Provincial (All-Star) team in 2020, but due to COVID-19 the tournament was cancelled. In 2020, he coached the U14 Outer Cove Female team and was the lead organizer for the 2020 U14 Female Fastpitch League.
Paul Monk (Head Coach – U14 Male)
Paul is from Clarenville and will be the Head Coach for the Softball NL U14 Male Provincial (All-Star) Fastpitch team that will participate in the U14 Male Canadian Fastpitch Championship in Wilmot, Ontario from August 4-8, 2021. Paul played in the local leagues in Clarenville (Minor, Junior & Senior), as well as two seasons in the St. John’s Junior Men’s Fastptich League (1992-1993). He currently holds Competition – Introduction Trained Coaching Certification. Paul has coached various teams in the Clarenville Minor Softball Association (1988-1992), coached at the U8 Co-Ed division for three seasons (2013-2015), at the U10 Male division for two seasons (2016-2017), at the U12 Male division for two seasons (2018-2019) and at the U14 Male division in the U14 Male Fastpitch League in 2020.
Dave Connors (Head Coach – U16 Female)
Dave is from Conception Harbour and will be the Head Coach for the Softball NL U16 Female Provincial (All-Star) Fastpitch team that will participate in the U14 Female Canadian Fastpitch Championship in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan from August 11-15, 2021. Dave played his minor ball in the CBC Minor Softball Association, captured a Gold Medal at the U19 Nationals (1992), represented Newfoundland Labrador at the Canada Games (1993), played in the St. John’s Junior Men’s Softball League (1994) and played in the CBC Senior Men’s Fastpitch League for 7-seasons (2013-2019). He currently holds Competition-Introduction Certified Coaching Certification and has coached in the CBC Minor Softball Association 13-years (2008 to present) and has guided teams at numerous Provincial championships, was player/coach at the Senior Men’s Nationals – Masters Division (2016) and represented Newfoundland Labrador at the U14 Female Eastern Canadian Softball Championship on two occasions (Assistant Coach 2016 and Head Coach 2017) and represented Newfoundland Labrador at the U16 Female Eastern Canadian Softball Championship on two occasions (Assistant Coach 2018 and Head Coach 2019). Dave was named the Head Coach of the Softball NL U14 Female Provincial (All-Star) Fastpitch team in 2020, but due to COVID-19 the tournament was cancelled.
Chris LeDrew (Head Coach – U16 Male)
Chris is from Conception Bay South and will be the Head Coach for the Softball NL U16 Male Provincial (All-Star) Fastpitch team that will participate in the U16 Male Canadian Fastpitch Championship in Fredericton, NB – Dates To Be Determined. Chris played his minor ball in the CBS Minor Association (U12, U14, U16, U19), participated in the NL Summer Games with CBS (1996) and participated in the St. John’s Junior Men’s Softball League with CBS. He currently holds Competition-Introduction Trained Coaching Certification and has been coaching in the CBS Minor Softball Association since 2014 and represented Newfoundland Labrador at the U16 Female Eastern Canadian Softball Championship on two occasions (Head Coach 2017 & 2018) and at the U14 Male Canadian Fastpitch Championship (Head Coach 2019). He is also involved with CBR Minor Hockey at the Novice and Atom Divisions. Chris was named the Head Coach of the U14 Male Provincial (All-Star) Fastpitch team in 2020, but due to COVID-19 the tournament was cancelled.
Loyola Power (Head Coach – U19 Male)
Loyola is from Conception Bay South and will be the Head Coach for the Softball NL U19 Male Provincial (All-Star) Fastpitch team that will participate in the U19 Male Canadian Fastpitch Championship in Carbonear, NL from August 3-8. Loyola played fastpitch for close to 40-years from Minor to Senior and still truly enjoys the game. He currently holds Competition Sport, Competition Introduction Certified and Competition Development Trained Certification. Locally, Loyola has coached teams in the CBS Minor Softball Association from 2007-2014 at the U10 to U18 Male Divisions. At the Eastern Canadian level, he has coached teams at the U14 Male (2014) and U16 Male (2015-2016) Divisions. At the Canadian Fastpitch Championships, Loyola has coached teams at the U16 Male (2015-2016), U18 Male (2017) and U19 Male (2019). At the Senior level, he has been the Head Coach of 3 Cheers Pub Dodgers in 2019-2020. Loyola is also a Certified Learning Facilitator under the NCCP Program with Softball Canada. He was also the Head Coach of the Newfoundland Labrador Male Canada Games team that were to participate in the 2021 Canada Summer Games in Niagara, Ontario, but that event was cancelled due to COVID-19. He will be at the helm of the Newfoundland Labrador Male Canada Games team at the rescheduled Canada Summer Games in Niagara, Ontario in 2022.
Mark Nash (Head Coach – U23 Male)
Mark is from Placentia and will be the Head Coach for the Softball NL U23 Male Provincial (All-Star) Fastpitch team that will participate in the U23 Male Canadian Fastpitch Championship in Carp, ON from July 27 to August 01. He currently holds Competition – Introduction Coaching Certification and Competition Development Certified. Mark played his minor ball in Placentia and advanced through the ranks being drafted into the Senior Men’s Fastpitch League with Miller Lite. Locally, Mark coached in the Placentia Minor Softball system for 6-years (1987-1992) and from 2006 to 2017 has been involved with the Placentia Minor system coaching teams from U10 to U19. At the Eastern Canadian level, he has coached teams at the U14 Male (2013) and U16 Male (2014-2015) Divisions. At the National level, Mark has coached at the U18 Male (2017), U19 Male (2018) and U23 Male (2018-2019) Divisions. In 2019, Mark coached the U23 Chayee Bourras Wines Vines in the Senior Men’s Fastpitch League and to a 4th Place finish at the U23 Male Canadian Fastpitch Championship. In 2020, Mark coached the U14 Male Placentia team to a 1st Place finish in League Play. Mark is also a Certified Master Coach Developer, Learning Facilitator and Coach Evaluator under the NCCP Program with Softball Canada.
