Stephen Mullaley Retires From Men’s National Team
Calls It A Career Representing The Maple Leaf
On Thursday, September 26, 2019 Stephen Mullaley (Freshwater, NL) announced on his Facebook Page that after much thought and discussion with family and close friends that he has decided that the time has come to retire from the Canadian Senior Men’s National Team.
Mullaley first donned the Maple Leaf in 2006 as a 22-year old and represented his hometown, province and country with class and pride for the past 14-years as a member of the National Team. He acknowledged that it has been an honour and privilege to wear the Maple Leaf.
In typical Mullaley fashion, he took the time to thank his wife Jayne, his parents (Fintan & Yvonne) and sisters (Erin & Vicky) for their unwavering support and sacrifice. He also thanked all the coaches and trainers for everything, Softball Canada for their support and opportunities afforded to him and his family, all the great competitors from around the world and last, but not least, he thanked all of his teammates who he considers the best – both on and off the field.
Mullaley will continue to play at the International Softball Congress (ISC) and Canadian Nationals, but has donned the Maple Leaf for the last time. He looks forward to following and cheering on the Men’s National Team as their biggest fan. He is excited to spend more time with Jayne and Teddy – who will no doubt be swinging for the fences in years to come.
Softball NL would like to take this opportunity to Congratulate Stephen Mullaley on an OUTSTANDING career with the Canadian Senior Men’s National Team!
Softball NL are extremely proud of his accomplishments, both on and off the field, and on behalf of the entire Softball NL membership would like to simply say THANK-YOU Stephen Mullaley for all of the memories!
