2011 Minor Softball Information Updates

A. 2011 Affiliation and Tournament Fees (Minor Division)

As discussed at the recent Softball Newfoundland and Labrador AGM on March 5, 2011 the Affiliation and Tournament Fees have been increased.

2011 Affiliation and Tournament Fees
Affiliation Fee: $10.00 Per Player; Minimum Affiliation Fee Per Team $200.00
Tournament Fee: $250.00

B. Database Information (Deadline: July 5, 2011)

Team Registration and League Registration Forms have been sent via email to each Association. These Forms are in Excel format. Please fill-in the necessary information and send the Forms back to Softball Newfoundland and Labrador via email at softball@sportnl.ca.

These Forms are necessary in order for Softball Newfoundland and Labrador to complete the Database Information that Softball Canada requires from each of the Provincial Associations.

Deadline for Team Registration and League Registration Forms is Tuesday, July 5, 2011

C. Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check (Extremely Important)

A reminder that any Volunteers (Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Managers, etc) who will be involved with Minor Softball Teams at any Softball Newfoundland and Labrador sanctioned events this summer (Provincials, Qualifiers, Moss, etc) must have a current Certificate of Conduct AND Vulnerable Sector Check completed before the season starts.

Both are free to Volunteers through the RCMP or RNC if applications are accompanied by a letter from the President of your Association verifying you as a Volunteer.

Softball Newfoundland and Labrador will expect Association Presidents to provide verification of these documents before teams are registered with Softball Newfoundland and Labrador.

Do not delay as this process may take several weeks to complete.

G. Eastern Canadian Qualifier (Pee-Wee Boys Division)

Please Be Advised:
The Pee-Wee Boys Eastern Canadian Qualifier Will Be Held From July 22-July 24.
Deadline For Roster Is July 8, 2011.

Interested in Hosting the Pee-Wee Boys Eastern Canadian Qualifier then complete and submit the EC Qualifier Hosting Application (Pee-Wee Boys) that is available on the Softball Newfoundland and Labrador website or Softball Newfoundland and Labrador at softball@sportnl.ca before the May 10, 2011 Deadline.

H. 2011 Constable William Moss Memorial Softball Tournament

The 2011 Constable William Moss Memorial Softball Tournament will be held from July 11-15 at various fields in St. John’s. For more information please contact Ross Crocker at softball@sportnl.ca

I. Midget Girls Tryout

Attention: Female Softball Players

The 2011 Newfoundland Selects Midget Girls/2013 Canada Games Junior Women’s Softball Program will be holding evaluation camps on May 7-8 and May 14-15 in St. John’s.

J. Hosting Application: 2011 Minor Provincial Tournaments

The Deadline to apply to Host a Softball Newfoundland and Labrador Minor Provincial Tournament in 2011 has passed (Saturday, April 30, 2011).

Any Associations that are interested in Hosting a Softball Newfoundland and Labrador Minor Provincial Tournament should submit an Application to Softball Newfoundland and Labrador ASAP. Applications can be sent to Softball Newfoundland and Labrador at softball@sportnl.ca

If no Applications are received, then Softball Newfoundland and Labrador will actively seek out Hosts for the 2011 Softball Newfoundland and Labrador Minor Provincial Tournaments.

Information, Application Forms, and a List of Tournaments can all be found on the Softball NL website!

K. All-Star Tryouts Will Begin Soon

Softball Newfoundland and Labrador would like to advise its membership that All-Star Tryouts in the various age categories will begin soon! For more details please check the Softball Newfoundland and Labrador website.

L. Important Reminder: Coaching Certification

A reminder that all teams participating in Softball Newfoundland and Labrador sanctioned minor tournaments must have coaches with a minimum of “On going Participation” or “Level 1 (Full – Theory, Technical, and Practical under old NCCP)”.

To check your certification status please go to www.coach.ca and select “Check your NCCP Certification”.

All teams registering for minor tournaments will be expected to list their full coaching staff and include their NCCP CC#.
