Softball NL Board of Directors (2015-2017)
 
Softball Newfoundland Labrador held its 2015 Annual General Meeting & Election of Officers on Saturday, April 25th at St. Paul’s Junior High School in St. John’s.
 
The following individuals have been elected or re-elected for a two-year term that will run from April 2015 to April 2017.
 
The Softball NL Board of Directors has five returnees as Paul Smith Sr. was re-elected President, Ross Crocker was re-elected Vice-President, Bill Barron was re-elected Finance Director, Gerald Gosse was re-elected Secretary and Eddy McDonald was re-elected Eastern Canadian Director and welcomed two new additions as Kearney Druken was elected Minor Director and Jason Hill was elected Adult Director.
 
Paul Smith Sr. returns as President for Softball NL. He was elected President in 2013 and will begin his second term as President in 2015. Prior to being elected President, he served as Finance Director from 2009-2010 and served as Vice-President from 2011-2012.
 
Ross Crocker returns as Vice-President for Softball NL. He was elected Vice-President in 2013 and will begin his second term as Vice-President in 2015. Prior to being elected Vice-President, he served as Adult Director in 2008 and served two-terms (4-years) as President from 2009-2012. Crocker is a member of the Softball NL Hall of Fame (1996), the Sport NL Hall of Fame (1997) and the Softball Canada Hall of Fame (1999).
 
Bill Barron returns to his familiar role as the Finance Director for Softball NL and with that begins his 16th year serving on the Softball NL Executive. He has held the following positions on the Softball NL Executive: Statistician (1964), Secretary (1969), Treasurer (1996-1998, 2000-2002) and Finance Director (2003-2005, 2011-Present). Barron is a member of the Softball NL Hall of Fame (1981), the Sport NL Hall of Fame (2010), the Softball Canada Hall of Fame (2011) & was the first recipient of the Softball NL Life-Time Commitment Award in 2012.
 
Gerald Gosse returns as the Secretary for Softball NL. Gosse was elected Secretary in 2011 and will begin his third term as Secretary in 2015.
 
Eddy McDonald returns as the Eastern Canadian Director for Softball NL. McDonald was elected as Eastern Canadian Director in 2011 and will begin his third term as Eastern Canadian Director in 2015.
 
Kearney Druken was nominated for and accepted the Minor Director’s position and will begin her first term as Minor Director in 2015. In 2014, she was named Softball NL Adult Female Player of the Year, Softball NL Home Runs Sports Umpire of the Year and obtained her Softball Canada Level III Umpire Designation. Druken takes over the Minor Director’s position from Sherry Maher (2008-2014) who didn’t seek re-election.
 
Jason Hill has had tremendous success on the softball diamond at the Local, Provincial, National and International levels in his relatively young, but polished playing career. One of the most competitive individuals in the game, his resume speaks for itself with Gold Medals, MVP Awards, Player of the Year Awards, Athlete of the Year Awards, Top Batter Awards, All-Star & All-World Selections. A member of the three-time (2012-2014) Canadian Senior Men’s Fastpitch Championship team 3Cheers Pub Bud Light, the powerhouse Hill United Chiefs (ASA & ISC Champions), the Canadian Senior Men’s National Team program and the Softball NL Skills Development Committee. Hill was nominated for and accepted the Adult Director’s position and will begin his first term as Adult Director in 2015.
