2016 NL Games “1-Year Out” Event
On Saturday, August 22nd, the Town of Conception Bay South hosted their “1 Year Out” event to kick off the 2016 NL Summer Games. At the event, 10 of the participating sports organized demonstrations for people of all ages to experience.
Softball was well represented by members of the Host Boys Softball Team Linden Power and Jordan Bishop, along with Softball NL Technical Director for the NL Games Paul Smith Jr. Linden and Jordan demonstrated their pitching skills, while also providing over 30 boys and girls the opportunity to try it for themselves.
The last time the NL Games was hosted in Conception Bay South in 1996 softball was one of the most popular sports to watch. It is expected that Softball will once again excite the crowds as regional teams from St. John’s/North, Mt. Pearl/South, Avalon, Eastern, Central, Western, and Labrador regions will compete with the Host region between August 13-21, 2016.
