2015 SportNL Scholarship Award Ceremony

Softball NL Would Like To Take This Opportunity To Congratulate Eric Healey (Chapel’s Cove), Michael King (Paradise) & Mitch Stack (Petty Harbour) On Being Named Recipients Of The 2015 SportNL Scholarship Awards.

Congratulations Eric, Mike & Mitch!

Eric Healey from Chapel’s Cove is a full-time student at the College of the North Atlantic studying electrical. In 2015, Eric placed first at the Intermediate Provincial Softball Championships and won multiple awards including Most Valuable Player, Top Pitcher, Most Strikeouts and All-Star Pitcher. Eric is an active volunteer helping youth in his community with pitching skills, hoping to develop future softball players.

Michael King of Paradise is a third year earth sciences student at Memorial University. In 2015, he competed and placed fourth at the Intermediate Men’s Fastpitch Provincials. He was also a participant at the Swing Into Summer competition and the National U21 Junior Men’s Softball Championships. Michael is a mentor for many young players, instructing the Waterford Valley Minor Softball players and the Game on Gear Intermediate Men’s team.

Mitch Stack from Petty Harbour is a softball player in his first year of Engineering at Memorial University. 2015 was a great year for Mitch, where he attended a Team Canada tryout and Camp. He has competed at multiple championships, placing second at the U18 Provincials and fourth at the Newfoundland and Labrador senior provincials. Mitch was recognized as an All-Star shortstop at the U18 midget nationals and received the Glen Lee Softball Scholarship in June.
