Softball NL Membership,
As we all continue to cautiously navigate through this unprecedented time and uncharted territory in our history, it has become abundantly clear that things have changed day-by-day, hour-by-hour, minute-by-minute and it feels in some cases second-by-second. Even as we learn more about the Coronavirus (COVID-19), there are certainly more questions than answers at this point, but one thing is certain — Health And Safety Is Paramount To All Of Us. So please know that we are thinking of You, Your Families And The Entire Provincial Softball Community.

Softball NL held an Executive Meeting (via Conference Call) on Thursday, March 26 and are anticipating having an official Board Meeting (via Conference Call) over the next couple of weeks. As things unfold, we will have more information to share with you.

The 2019 Softball NL Awards Presentation was scheduled for Friday, April 24 at GlenDenning Golf and the 2020 Softball NL Annual General Meeting was scheduled for Saturday, April 25 at Swilers Complex. Unfortunately, but understandably, these two events will be postponed until further notice. We had a discussion as to when we could hold these events and possible formats and we hope to have more information to share soon. Please Note: All 2019 Softball NL Awards Winners/Recipients will be contacted via email on Wednesday, April 01, 2020.

We have also received questions regarding the NL Summer Games, Canadian Fastpitch Championships and Eastern Canadian Championships, as well as other Softball NL Programs. Discussions are being held with the Province regarding the NL Summer Games and with Softball Canada regarding the Canadian Fastpitch Championships. We anticipate the Province to provide an official announcement regarding the NL Summer Games soon, and that would be in consultation with the Host Community – Bay Roberts. Softball Canada will be holding a conference call on Tuesday, March 31 and we should have a better idea as to the deadline to decide whether the 2020 Canadian Fastpitch Championships will go ahead or not. The Eastern Canadian Committee will be meeting on Monday, April 06 and we anticipate similar discussions regarding the Eastern Canadian Fastpitch Championships for this coming summer.

As for our Provincial Softball Programs for 2020, we are hoping and planning for a normal Summer Program. As everyone is aware, we just don’t know what the immediate future has in store, but we remain positive. As time passes, many of the decisions could be made for us, i.e. Federal, Provincial, Municipal Governments, as well as Community Health, etc.

Dave Feener (Softball NL Executive Director) will continue to work (mostly from home) and he will be available via email, as will all of the Softball NL Board of Directors. In the coming days, we will be providing more information. Feel free to send emails to Dave Feener and to any member of the Board of Directors at any time.

As previously announced, ALL Softball NL Sanctioned Programs/Activities Will Be Suspended Until April 14, this remains in affect and a decision on further suspension or reinstatement of Programs/Activities will be made prior to April 14. As previously stated, we strongly encourage Associations/Teams at the Community and/or Club levels to suspend Programs/Activities until April 14.
