Notice: Mite FP Committee

Mite FP Committee

Softball Newfoundland and Labrador Minor Director Sherry Maher is exploring the idea/possibility of developing a Mite FP Committee. The main objective of the Mite FP Committee would be to try and encourage younger players to play fastpitch! The current landscape doesn’t provide many opportunities for this age group (10-and-Under). In order to grow the great sport of fastpitch we need to introduce our youngest players to the game!

Sherry has given this idea a lot of thought and has advised that Softball Canada has provided some suggestions.

The main goal would be to get a six-week program (2-weeks Indoor with Learn-To-Play and CANpitch and 4-weeks on the Field with Practices and Games) off the ground this summer. The program would be co-ed and for ages 10-and-Under.

Games and Practices will be played on fields in communities that have volunteers and committee members. Therefore, if you want your community involved you must make sure you are represented on the committee.

If you have a child that age or would be interested in getting involved please contact Sherry Maher at and/or pass this information along.

Sherry is hoping to set up a meeting within the next 10-14 days to get the ball rolling.

Yours in Softball,
